Steps to Overcoming Complacency
I'm Dana, and I created this lifestyle platform in order to connect women from across the world who are on the pursuit of finding balance, their calling, and weekly inspiration.
hello there!
Welcome, Morgan. I’m wondering if you could share a little about yourself and what you do?
Thank you for having me, Dana. I am a proud wife andmama bear. My husband plays professional basketball in Russia and my son will be 6 years old next month. When I’m not in my wife or mama bear role I own 2 companies. My first company is a health and wellness business where I provide in person and virtual workouts as well as custom meal plans. My second company is only about 2 years old and that’s A Beautiful Nest where I design custom boxes and baskets for all occasions. In my free time—-I don’t really even know what that is, I enjoy a good glass of wine and trash tv, coffee and a good book, and hanging with friends.
You mentioned your personal training business, how has that worked during this pandemic time and how can other moms stay fit during the chaos we are in?
Oh goodness, well first and foremost—GRACE. We have been experiencing so much in 2020 including a lack of free time, alone space, and peace and quiet as moms! We have got to do a better job at giving ourselves grace and understanding if we don’t get all the things done, including our health and fitness goals. With that being said, I do think it’s important now more than ever to stay healthy, keep our immune systems up, and continue to be as healthy as possible for our kiddos, families, and our mental health. 3 tips I have for healthy living during COVID are:
Prepare—plan ahead the best you can, make meat, grill vegetables, slice fruits, etc. Make your life in the kitchen as easy as possible so that you aren’t overwhelmed and can still grab the good and healthy things for you and your family.
Take your 30. Find a way to fit in 30 minutes a day for yourself. Maybe that’s just reading and stretching, maybe listening to a podcast while walking, maybe it’s taking the kids to the park and working out while they play. Anyway that you can find 30 minutes to better your mental AND physical health, make that happen!
Ask for help!! This one is clutch for me and a part of making sure I give myself grace as well. If you can afford a cleaning service, do that. If you can snag a babysitter for just 1-2 hours a week, do that. Order meal delivery, grocery delivery, etc. If financially you can’t afford the extra childcare help, ask a friend! She can take yours and you take hers for a few hours—trade off, this ones free and it will be with someone you trust. I suggest you make a list of all you do in a day and then take that and see what you can outsource. I’m currently solo parenting and this has been my saving grace!
You mentioned solo parenting, can you explain that?
Well, I don’t like to say single parent because I have a husband and do not ever want to negate the incredible strength of single parents. I use solo parenting because my husband is currently out of the country andI am parenting my son alone. Actually, many women I know with husbands that are also playing overseas are in this same boat this season. Due to COVID travel restrictions are tough and actually Russia has one of the most strict restrictions and currently it just isn’t working for us to be there with my husband. The transition has NOT been easy but I am thankful my husband has a job, thankful he is healthy and safe, and thankful for the help here in the USA and for a strong marriage that we can survive this chaos!
