hello there!
In the wake of all the craziness with the COVID-19 pandemic, I thought I would bring a little light and laughter to your day by sharing my experience of visiting Disney in Paris. I know you’re thinking, “But how did you get away with the basketball season going right now?” Easy (well kind of), for the last couple of years, the European basketball league takes two breaks a year to allow some of the players to go back to their home country and play for their national team. These games with the national team are qualifiers for the Olympics. These breaks are pretty important to the wives and more importantly to the players.
For me, I look for this break before we even get well into the season. I look for these as my little checkpoints, and while they don’t come often (only around Olympic time), I will find somewhere else where I can enjoy some family time without thinking about basketball for a few days.
During this year’s break we explored Disneyland in Paris. Despite what some probably thought about her being so young, she’s so smart, and I knew she could handle the trip!
We used our arrival day to settle in and prepare for day 2, or as we called it, “ The Big Day.” We got up early, got dressed, had breakfast, and somehow managed to be out the door by 9:30 (that’s never normal and must’ve been all of the Disney magic in the air). We took a short ride from our hotel to Disneyland, where the fun began…well after Jarrod decided to stand in line for an hour for a fast pass to cut the lines. The Frozen show was our first stop, which Dallas loved and sang “Let It Go” the remainder of the day. We filled the day with rides and excitement! Now I will be honest Dallas was not impressed with the rides at first and then once they started going she got into it. Before the day was over we watched a parade with all the Disney characters and enjoyed watching Dallas make new friends.
Our adventure continued, and what’s going to Paris without seeing the Eiffel Tower, right? This was actually our last day in Paris, because Jarrod had to be back in time to rest before practice.
Stop 1: The Louvre Museum. This is a very historic art museum that has been around for centuries.
Stop 2: Arc de Triomphe. This stop was more like a pit stop. It was really busy and there was lots of traffic so we just snapped a few pictures before heading to our final stop.
Stop 3: The last stop but certainly not the least was the Eiffel Tower. We made this stop our longest. It was like a nice walk through the park. We stopped to get crepes, took some pictures, and enjoyed some entertainment. Although our pictures aren’t the best, because Dallas wanted to run around and chase all the birds, we managed to get a couple memorable ones.
This trip was nothing short of amazing! I’m not sure who was more excited Dallas or Jarrod, or if they were equal lol. No but seriously, they both had their moments where I thought they were going to explode with joy. I guess I had my moments too, like in the store trying to buy everything to take back for Dallas. I wish y’all could see me rolling my eyes at Jarrod cutting me off, “Dana put that back, you’re going overboard,” he said. Watching Dallas get excited to see Minnie Mouse, Princess Elsa, and let me not forget Woody (these are all her best friends, so she says) brought me so much joy! Of course, I’m sure she won’t remember any of this when she’s older, but we will always have these pictures and videos to show her about her first time in Paris.
I know this post isn’t one of my typical posts, but I thought maybe bringing my socialites along on one of my overseas experiences wouldn’t be such a bad idea and could possibly open you up to make some new experiences yourself once we get the green flag to pull out our passports again!
