hello there!
Anybody else have a late start to their new year? I know I did. So much happened at the end of last year that just left me exhausted coming into 2021. Now that I’m adjusted to Slovenia, COVID free (I had a scare), and as well rested as any mother could be with a newborn, I’m ready to conquer 2021. On one of my many nights up with Demi I would often get on Facebook or Instagram and do some mindless scrolling to keep me awake until she was finished eating. One night while doing so I came across an article about a plant that made me think about my life and the things I wanted and the things I wanted to change. Now typically, I would have scrolled right past that post because I’m not really into plants (sorry momma)…I know they look nice and all. but I could care less about reading an article on them. Now, I know all the plant moms are going to try and get me to have a change of heart, but I won’t. My mom has been working on me for years and I still haven’t given in.
I digress ..ha.
Now, let’s get back to it. While reading this article, I began to think about what a year it was and how I could find the good out of such a trying year. A lot happened in 2020, but I rolled with the punches and kept pushing. While thinking, three words kept replaying, Reflect, Rebuild, Regrow. As I continued to read the article, I started comparing these three words to growing plants. To some, growing plants is as simple as adding water and sunlight, but to others, it is so much more. I know I’m not the only one to have a rough year which, is why I wanted to share with you my plant remedy to my mental reset.
See…I didn’t have to be a plant mom to teach myself how to repot and grow my favorite version of a plant — myself! I get it, these times we are living in are tough, mentally, physically, emotionally, you’re just tired. But it’s important, now more than ever to keep your mental health right now for you to be present for what you have going on. Take this time to mentally reflect on all aspects of your life: relationships, goals, work, health or anything else. Then, ask yourself if you need to do a mental health check. If so, sit back and replant your pot, reflect, rebuild, and watch yourself regrow into the woman your heart desires.
